RIMINI
Rimini is a wonderful city, all to be discovered, that goes beyond the beautiful and serviced beaches and has also a lot to offer on
history and culture, with a historic centre rich in testimonies of the past.
Among the main monuments absolutely not to be missed the
Tiberius Bridge, the
Arch of Augustus, the
Tempio Malatestiano,
Piazza Tre Martiri,
Piazza Ferrari with the
Domus of the Surgeon and
Piazza Cavour and his old fishery. Testimonies of the Roman age that is well preserved still today.
The city is also famous for the picturesque
village of San Giuliano, situated on the northern shore of the river Marecchia, separated from the historical centre from the Tiberius Bridge. A cluster of houses and activities that still today retain their personality, between craftsmen and neighbourhood parties, where you can breathe the atmosphere of the small villages of many years ago.
HINTERLAND
During your holiday in Rimini it is worth spending one or more days discovering the wonderful surrounding
hinterland, rich in villages sometimes unknown but very charming.
Among these we would like to remember the villages of Valmarecchia, including
Santarcangelo, the land of poets and artists,
San Leo, which houses in its historical centre the Fortress, the Parish Church and the Duomo and
Verucchio, from where you can admire a splendid panorama and where you can visit the Rocca, the Collegiata of Saints Martin and Francis and the Civic Museum of Archaeology.
Also the ancient Republic of
San Marino certainly deserves a visit
, with its three Towers and the Palazzo Pubblico and
Gradara, a village enclosed inside a long wall, at the centre of which stands a large and spectacular castle, and where the famous tragedy of Paolo and Francesca, sung by Dante took place.
